So Long!

It is time to say good-bye for awhile. I have really enjoyed being part of the blogosphere. We are downsizing a bit, and the $86-a-month high-speed internet connection is going. I will check in from time to time and see what you all are up to.

Swimming and Latin

I did not bring my camera to the swim meet yesterday. I could not believe it, neither could K and E who always forget theirs! I am notorious for taking lots of pictures of everyone's kids, then never giving the pictures to the mommies. In fact, E has been telling witnesses that for her birthday all she wants is a cd with pictures!

Well, Nutmeg did a great job at the swim meet. She shaved 4 seconds off her 25 Free. She was signed up to swim 25 Breast, and she had a fit. "I can't do it. I have never done it at a meet before. I can't I can't I can't!!!" Here is the story on Nutmeg: if she can't do it perfect the first time, (she thinks) she cannot do it. And if the situation is new or slightly different, (she thinks) she cannot do it. I bribed her with a Sprite. She swam. She did great. Then the little booger got in the other pool (for free swimming) and proceeded to do the Breast Stroke of her own volition for about 30 min. I tried to play it cool.
Michele: What is you favorite stroke?
Nutmeg: Breast Stroke.

We are still trying to stick to our summer schedule of homeschooling on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We have two more lessons left in Prima Latina. I *think* we may wait until the fall to begin Latina Christiana. I *think* we may try something different for the summer. I purchased the Minimus MiniBooks ( on the WTM message boards) and Lingua Latina (Amazon). I would like to spend the summer reading the easier texts and doing vocabulary flashcards from those texts. I also would like to work on memorising The Hail Mary and the Agnus Dei in Latin. That is the plan. Stay tuned.

Yes, Mom. I am taking the Pond Books off the website in a day or two, in case anyone else is as sick of looking at them as you are! ;)

I think we are finished with The Chipmunk's 4th birthday now. We invited some friends to a friend's pool. Thank you, K, for letting me invite ourselves over and for you making ice cream!

We are all back home! Jerry was at a conference this week, and the girls and I headed for my parents' house. While we were there, we went by Jerry's and my first home. It looks much better now! It was white with a black door and black shutters, and we planted that big tree in front. I remember thinking it would never grow. We moved May 2000. My parents have a pool, and the girls love it! Nutmeg was again begging to have a pool at our house. I always tell her we have about 2 inches of soil and then solid granite at our house and oh yeah, pools cost a lot!!! I got in the pool alone last night. It was so nice!! I cannot remember the last time I was in a pool without children. We did school on our little trip. Yes, sir! We slowly drove past a pond three times observing "pond succession." Nutmeg said if we drove past again, she would not look. It is nice to be home, but we left it in a bit of a mess. Well, a pretty big mess!

I started this piece on Thursday. It is a freebie from the internet - "Dessine par Gigi, Jackye - 'A mon Ami Pierre' Carinne." I am using one thread of ST "Raspberry Parfait" over two threads on 35 count lambswool linen - purchased at the Dogwood Patch. It is stitching up quickly since there are no thread changes. I love stitching the little animal motifs. I would like to work on it tonight while watching "Brideshead Revisited," but tomorrow bright and early is a summer school homeschool day! Maybe I could just start something small and quick...

Birthday Girl

Tomorrow is The Chipmunk's birthday. We were going to have a party for her today, but she had a fever all night and a bit of one today. We had the cake and played pin -the -tail -on -the -unicorn. You can tell it is a unicorn, right?

Weekly Report

Yesterday, my mom, two daughters and I went to The Dogwood Patch, a wonderful cross stitch store in Hiawasee. Cross stitch is alive and well in the North Georgia Mtns. There is a link in my links section. We dropped off four pieces to be framed, one to be made into a pillow and picked up some fabric from the quilt store next door. I will be posting some pictures of my works in progress later today.

We have begun our summer schedule for homeschool. We will be doing a full day of school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will also go to swim practice on those afternoons. We need to stay home and not schedule anything away from home on days we have to be at swimming. (Yesterday was an exception and so worth it!) Nutmeg has adjusted well to this schedule. Two of her friends are also on this schedule so she knows she is not missing anything fun with them! We have started First Language Lessons 3. We have 10 lessons left on Saxon 2. I hope to finish the pond unit in two more weeks and then begin Apologia Swimming Creatures. We have had two summer swim meets in the past week, so I will post some of those pictures later today also. Right now I have to get busy on a unicorn cake for The Chipmunk's birthday party tomorrow!
