Spacing Advice Needed

I have finished the first Santa, except for the dark gold flagpole and bugle, and I am ready to start the next. How much spacing should there be between Santas? I left 1/2 inch, but that does not seem enough. Would and inch be too much or not enough? Mom, (and everyone else) what do you think?

    I'm not sure if 1/2 in. will be enough. What does 3/4 in. look like? Love all your posts.

    how many santas will there be? If the piece is going to be rather long, than I'd go 3/4... maybe an inch. But no more than an inch :)
