Nature Challenge #30
This week's nature challenge is all about seeds and weeds. I took a couple of pictures this morning when I took The Chipmunk to school. It was a bit dark, and the pictures of the tall ironweed did not turn out. The tall ironweed has been catching my eyes for weeks, and now it is starting to fade.
My friend Merry tells me this pretty orange wildflower is called Jewell Weed.

Aren't weeds everywhere? I think your weed with the pretty orange flowers look like "wildflowers" and not weeds. Is that being positive or what?
Weeds, wildflowers, garden plants...it is all perspective.

Your orange weed flowers, I believe, are "jewel weed". It's a common flower around North Georgia mountain rivers.
Your nature girl school friend,
Merry :)
Those are so pretty! Great post.
Impatiens capensis, to be latin about it. The native impatien. ;)
Love your blog, Michelle (Let's not discuss the fact that I'm at work right now and should be doing something else). I think we are aesthetic soul mates. Do you like Virginia Woolf, too? ;)
many blessings,
Laylage
And I should mention that it is a poison ivy antidote! You can steep the stems in vinegar for a few weeks, strain, and use as a soap to wash off the oil if you've been exposed. The sooner after exposure the better...
It is also edible.
