Rainy, Chilly Day

I finally finished the "Scottish Companion Sampler" published in The Gift of Stitching (digital) magazine. I changed the green and the brown. I just could not resist doing this when I saw the boating scene at the bottom!

I started and finished this a couple of days ago. I don't know why really, probably because it was designed by Darlene O'Steen. It was in an older JCS ornament issue. I kind of like it and kind of don't. And now I see I haven't quite crossed all the stitches.

WoooHooo! Look at my amazing progress on "Far, Far Away" by Shepherd's Bush! I started it last night, but really I feel to yucky with allergies to stitch. I also want to stitch the next band to hide my threads under, but did not have that color.

Last, but never least, is Merlin. Can you guess what that is hanging out of his mouth? Look at the bottom of my last post for a hint! ;)

I am almost finished with "Sarah Harriet Stephenson" from SANQ. So what's a girl to do? I started two new projects. I think I have a problem.....

Forget counting sheep and drinking milk! I like to look through a few older issues of SANQ as I prepare to drift off to sleep. Of course, then I want to start all the samplers I see, and I stay up way too late. *yawn* The above design is "Isabella Johnstone Sampler." I don't know why I find this sampler so appealing, I mean, I don't ever remember wanting to stitch a big red cow in the middle of a band sampler before...

I also started the "Scottish Companion Sampler" from an older edition of the digital magazine, "The Gift of Stitching." The colors are much softer than they appeared in the picture in the magazine; the main green was so soft that it was really more of a soft gray. I changed it to a sampler thread I had on hand, but I am waiting to see how the other colors play out. Late last night, I realized that I left a row out of the little peacock's neck. If I were stitching with good old DMC, I would pick the stitches out. Overdyed threads are just too expensive to pick out, as well as too much trouble to put in. So I think I will be okay with little ewok-peacocks!

In other new, Buttercup's hair has gotten really long and sparkly. ;)

A Finish!

It feels so good to finish something! I chose to do only the first block of the "Jeanne d'Arc" from the digital magazine, The Gift of Stitching. I think it is lovely on its own - especially since it has St. Michael, my favorite saint!
I also finished three more days on "Adam Alone." I chose to concentrate on the flowers in the border; I could not bring myself to stitch anymore words one-over-one! I will have to think of a special treat for myself each time I do those words - and there are a lot of words! I hope to finish 3 or 4 more designs on this rotation so i am already planning on the designs to start to fill the empty spaces. That is the most fun! Well, off we go for some family summer outside fun! I'll post more pictures later. Oh, will someone tell me how I can post more than 4 pictures per post?

Hello there!

I have had sick girls for THREE WEEKS! It was pretty bad. Everyone seems to be doing well at the moment; DH and I actually went away alone for Memorial Weekend. I have not gotten much schooling or stitching done lately. I re-started school on Tuesday, and things are going well. Things will be even better when the reorganization of the school room is complete. It started this morning when a stack of books slid into my coffee cup which spilled everywhere. If you cannot find a safe spot for your coffee cup, it is time to tidy up!
Stitching has taken a back seat to gardening. Now that the plants are for the most part in the ground and happy, I have been getting the stitching back out.

You would think the above design was a finish, wouldn't you? Well, I need to stitch a B after Michele and also stitch the antlers on that deer. This is who I am. I get right up to the end, and well......

My mom gave me Earth Sampler for my birthday. I am not sure why the rabbit is supposed to be Pomegranate. My pomegranate is distinctly pink.

I will probably wish that I had done all four squares of Jeanne d' Arc. I just don't know that I can stitch that much brown. I could always do the other squares and have them framed separately, I guess.

Progress and a New Start

I have made a little more progress on this piece by Carriage House Samplings. I've done the most enjoyable bits, and I am now stuck on the more difficult bits in the center of each medallion. :(

I started this design from the latest issue of the Gift of Stitching online magazine. The design is for a four-part sampler featuring scenes from Joan of Arc's short life. I really do not need another large project right now, so I have chosen to do the scenes individually. I may not want to do the last scene of her earthly life!

Today, while we watch an Inspector Lynley episode, I will be working on this Sheepish Designs pattern. I need to get started! I can see it finished and framed hanging by my mantle in the living room - but the one-over-one letters might push me over the edge!
