Weekly Report

We had a pretty good time in Savannah this week. I alternated between swearing I would never again travel with children and enjoying things more because they were there. I could have spent my days taking pictures of every nook and cranny in the historic district! We talked a lot about Savannah and Georgia history and a bit about tides. Just when I was thinking that nothing I say makes any difference, Nutmeg pulls out the Apologia Zoology 2 book ( I optimistically brought tons of science books!) and says she is going to look up what was making the bubbles on the beach when the tides went out. And she read to us about clams and crabs. I was thrilled. We started back regular school hours yesterday and today. The Chipmunk started her preK4 yesterday so we got lots more done than usual! Next year I will have both girls at home, but I need another year to work with Nutmeg alone. And the local preK is great. We are finishing up our unit on whales. We seem to do an ocean unit every summer before we go to the beach so I won't try to finish Zoo 2 right away. My friend E and I are going to start Pre-levl chem with the kids and then go on to a cobbled-together Human Body. Mommy Lawyer, want to do human body with us? I am just finishing the proposed schedule. The preK teacher says The Chipmunk is just fantastic in class. She must have used all her sweetness up in school today. She had a meltdown in the car. I took her bottle of water away because she was screaming and threatening to pour the water out. Then she started screaming, "Give me back that water! Do you want me to get a kidney stone! Are you "death?" I said I want that water!" I guwess that never happens in anyone else's car! ;)

I love it when the kids pull out books to figure things out themselves. The pictures were great and it besides the water meltdown it sounds like a great week.

Sure, I'll talk to you (tomorrow) about doing the Body with you and E. You know how my crazy schedule works though. If you give me about 5-6 more weeks, we'll be finished with the pond and I'll be ready to tackle a new science topic then.

The girls are so cute! And you are in mountains of GA? Guess we are kinda neighbors - well, living in the same state and all. Thanks for stopping by my blog neighbor!

Hi Michele! You are all linked up on Blog Around the World. Thanks for including the button as well. You are in for two entries. I am thinking of starting a Homeschool Category as well. Would it be okay if I linked under that one as well?
